September 27 marks the 31st anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi. On the occasion of this day, the Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili laid the wreath on the Memorial to the Heroes fallen for the Territorial Integrity of Georgia and paid tribute to the combatants who laid their lives for the integrity of their homeland.
The Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze; Tbilisi Mayor, Kakha Kaladze, and the representatives of the legislative and executive authorities also attended the Memorial on the Heroes Square;
The military confrontation in Abkhazia started on August 14, 1992, lasted for 13 months and 13 days and ended with the fall of Sokhumi on September 27, 1993.
