The founder of the Georgian Dream, Bidzina Ivanishvili, responds to the statement of the Embassy of the United States in Georgia regarding “Credit Suisse”.

“The United States Embassy posted a banner with the following content on its official Facebook page: “Bidzina Ivanishvili knows that the money related to Credit Suisse is in the hands of Bermuda and Singapore courts, not America. Why is he telling Georgians a different story?” We considered it appropriate to respond to this banner with a statement.

First of all, it should be noted that the [U.S.] Embassy cannot cite any statement by me personally or any other leader of Georgian Dream, in which we accuse the U.S. or the EU of financial blackmail against us.

When we talked about bank account robbery and financial blackmail, we always specified that it was not the US or the European Union behind this blackmail, but the forces we refer to as the Global War Party. We did not accuse the USA or the European Union of financial blackmail even when Credit Suisse used the resolution adopted by the European Parliament as another excuse for not transferring the money. Moreover, we have clarified many times that we do not mean the U.S. nor the EU under the Global War Party. Moreover, we have specified there that the Global War Party has substantive influence over the politicians and bureaucrats in both the U.S. and the EU. This is the main reason why, until the end of financial blackmail, I refuse to meet with the US politicians and bureaucrats, because the probability of influence of the Global War Party with respect to each of them is very high”, - said the former Prime Minister.

He also mentioned that he had already explained the rationale for his “position to our American colleagues in writing” and expressed readiness to discuss the contents of that letter publicly if requested by the Embassy.

“In addition, my lawyers have repeatedly disclosed to the public detailed information about the financial restrictions imposed on me since the start of the war in Ukraine, and if necessary, I am ready to release updated information about all this to my lawyers.

We also remind you that the topic of oligarchic influences, informal governance, “Deep State” and the war party in the US has not been raised by us, and this issue appears to be one of the main lines of the current presidential campaign in America. Presidential candidate Donald Trump, presidential primaries candidates Robert Kennedy Jr., Vivek Ramaswamy, and others, have actively discussed the topics themselves.

It is the global war party that is trying to cover the US and the EU while acting against the national interests of Georgia and to present the events as if Georgia has a conflict not with it, but with the US and the EU.

Against this background, it is the Georgian Dream that is the political force that is doing everything to prevent damage to the reputation of the US and the EU in the eyes of Georgian society and to give its name to the events. If the Georgian society believes that the US and the EU want to change the government against the will of the people of Georgia and return power to the collective [United] National Movement, it will cause irreparable damage to the image of both the US and the EU. In such a case, the society will also think that in 2004-2012 Saakashvili’s regime was given the green light to establish authoritarianism, falsify elections, kill and torture people, terrorize businesses, appropriate television stations, war and lose territories, not by the Global War Party, but by the US and the EU.

Furthermore, the Georgian public might believe that in 2022, calls for a second front from the radical opposition, NGOs, and high-ranking officials of the Ukrainian government were made not on the orders of the Global War Party, but under the instructions of the US and the EU. Similarly, the Georgian public could think that it was not the Global War Party but the US and the EU that tried to destabilise the country on two occasions, in 2020 and 2022, it was not the global war party, but the US and the EU that tried to disrupt the country twice”, - said Bidzina Ivanishvili.

In conclusion, he expressed a desire to “prevent” public opinion from developing in “this direction,” adding, “we will do everything we can to oppose it; however, we will need the help of the American side in this effort”.
