The European Commission published the Public Integrity Index, which marked a new historic high for Georgia.
Georgia earned 7.56 points on a 10-point rating system, which is its new historical maximum, and also the country’s historically best ranking position. Georgia moved to the top 30. This is the best ranking result that Georgia has recorded so far.
The Index of Public Integrity identifies proximate measures for factors identified in research as impacting corruption risk for 114 countries.
Georgia is ahead of 11 member states of the EU and NATO and all other EU membership candidate countries. The country ranks 1st in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region and is also the frontrunner among the upper-middle-income countries.
Georgia has made special progress under the judicial independence indicator and judicial independence.
In terms of judicial independence, Georgia is ahead of 16 EU and NATO member states, namely, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Malta, Latvia, Hungary, Croatia, Turkey, North Macedonia.
