The Mayor of Tbilisi dismissed claims by the opposition about plans by the Georgian Government to restore the county’s territorial integrity through establishing a confederation with the Russian-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
“The territorial integrity would be restored only with correct policy, there is no question of any confederation. Today, when we started working in this direction, the most important thing for us is to restore territorial integrity with our correct policy, actions, development, peace, and progress, they [opposition] went crazy.
There is no talk of any confederation or recognition. It is inconceivable that we will make such a decision - we will do everything to restore territorial integrity with mutual forgiveness, mutual respect, and restoration of trust”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
He further claimed representatives of the opposition had “lost the territories by their treacherous and evil actions” while in power, in reference to the former [UNM] Government.
