The Forester Day was celebrated in the Botanical Garden

The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze participated in the event dedicated to Forester Day. The ceremony included the presentation of the projects undertaken in the forestry sector and the awarding of successful foresters for their merit in developing the field.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia; his Deputy, Apolon Kakabadze; the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze; the Head of the Primary Structural Unit of the Department of Biodiversity and Forestry, Karlo Amirgulashvili; and the Head of the National Forestry Agency, Kakha Tsertsvadze.

“I have the privilege to congratulate you on the Forester Day. It is paramount that higher and higher attention is attached to the forestry sector. We all remember the starting point of our way and the challenges that we encounter today. The development dynamics and the ongoing projects, backed by the state and with the support of our international partners through sharing their experiences, turn the light of hope for even more rapid and effective achievement of the goals, which also are set out in a new Forest Code and this is quite an ambitious but a feasible plan”, - said Maia Bitadze.

She thanked the Forestry Agency and the Ministry and, on behalf of the Parliament and the Committee, pledged to render assistance.

As she noted, the Parliament, in collaboration with the Ministry, spares no effort to further improve the quality of the activity of the Forestry Agency in terms of technological and human resources.

The ceremony was attended by and awarded the employees of the Central Office of the National Forestry Agency and famous figures engaged in the informative campaign of the Agency.
