The Prime Minister of Georgia highlighted Government’s respect for the “principle of secularism” as enshrined in the Constitution.
As Irakli Kobakhidze underlined, the state and the church were “separated from each other”.
“As for the relationship between the state and the church, naturally, they are separated. We respect the principle of secularism outlined in the Constitution, and relations between the state, Government, and church are built on this foundation”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
He highlighted the opinions of clergy on political matters, saying “it shouldn’t surprise or upset anyone that they have specific views”: “You mentioned that a certain trend has been emerging over this time, and once again, I’ll repeat that it shouldn’t offend or anger you”.
