The 300-member commission has elected Mikheil Kavelashvili as the President of Georgia.
Earlier, in Parliament, the Central Election Commission summarized the votes during a public session.
Kavelashvili received 224 votes in his favor. His candidacy was not supported by Ada Marshania, a member of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia. The opposition did not participate in the process.
According to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, 225 members participated in the vote, with 1 ballot being invalid.
The procedure took place in the Parliament’s plenary session hall. Mikheil Kavelashvili was the sole candidate for the presidency.
