After the Task Force meeting Prime Minister of Georgia visited the village of Shroma, Ozurgeti Municipality. The Head of Government of Georgia, along with members of the Cabinet, was briefed on the work done on-site and received detailed information from Temur Mgebrishvili, Head of the Emergency Resque and Management Service of Georgia.

Due to heavy snowfall, the village of Shroma was cut off from the Ozurgeti Municipality. Work on one of the critical sections of the road was carried out with special equipment throughout the night, and as of now, the road has been fully cleared. As a result of the road clearance, work to restore electricity supply has begun, which will be completed in the next few hours.

Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that active efforts are ongoing to clear access roads to all settlements, restore communication and ensure electricity supply: “We will provide the population with food and medicine wherever necessary. The emergency medical teams are working very actively. So far, we have not had any critical cases where there was an emergency and the ambulance teams were unable to reach the location. In every specific case, the ambulance teams managed to reach the site and provide emergency assistance”.

The Prime Minister thanked the rescuers, ambulance teams, military personnel, local authorities and everyone involved in the relevant work: “Throughout the day and night, they are working actively to resolve all the problems. Of course, serious challenges and issues remain. There are still settlements completely cut off from the outside world, so maximum attention will be focused on restoring communication there. Various means will be used to solve these problems”.
