Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with the Acting US Ambassador to Georgia Alan Purcell. The parties discussed priority areas of cooperation between Georgia and the US. The importance of the bilateral strategic partnership was emphasized.
It was noted that the Georgian side is interested in resetting relations with the US and restoring strategic cooperation.
Minister underlined the importance of President Trump`s peace initiatives, including the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, which has created new opportunities for development in the South Caucasus region. According to her, the achieved result is important for maintaining peace and security in the region, which is a priority of the Georgian government`s policy.
At the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of economic cooperation issues, including bilateral trade, investments and transport. Both sides focused on the importance of developing the Middle Corridor.
The role of Georgia as a key player in regional transit projects was emphasized, as well as the importance of developing the Middle Corridor as a stable, safe and efficient transit route connecting Europe and Asia. Attention was also focused on the infrastructure projects that the Georgian government is implementing and planning to develop the Middle Corridor and increase its competitiveness.
It was also noted that trade turnover between the countries is growing, amounting to 1.6 billion USD in January-July 2025. The meeting was attended by Genadi Arveladze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
