According to the State Security Service of Georgia, a Georgian citizen illegally detained near the village of Tsitelubani, Gori Municipality, on January 20, 2026 is free and is in the territory controlled by the central Government.

“All relevant instruments at the disposal of the central Government were actively used in the process of releasing the illegally detained Georgian citizen. In addition, the issue was discussed at a meeting held in the format of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism.

The central Government, the State Security Service, continues to work actively to release all Georgian citizens illegally detained in the occupied territories”, - reads the statement of the agency.
