The Labour Inspection Service [LIS] is conducting nationwide monitoring of occupational safety standards under high-temperature conditions, according to information released by the Ministry of Health of Georgia.

During the summer season, outdoor work is associated with serious professional risks. Heat significantly reduces productivity and concentration levels, which directly increases the risk of workplace accidents.

To prevent these risks, the LIS is implementing comprehensive measures. In the first phase, aimed at raising awareness, inspectors are holding informational meetings with both employers and employees to detail the hazards and recommendations related to high temperatures.

Following the information and consultation phase, the agency will intensively begin the inspection process.

During the monitoring, special attention will be paid to sectors and jobs that are performed in open spaces, at heights, or involve high-risk equipment.

The following will be evaluated during the inspections: the quality of companies` risk assessments and correct planning of the work process; the provision of drinking water and adequate conditions for rest to employees; the use of personal protective equipment; and the proper awareness and implementation of preventive measures among employees.

The main goal of the LIS`s activities is to take preventive measures, create a safe working environment, and prevent workplace accidents.
