Shore reinforcement and road works have been completed on the highway connecting Rustavi and Tbilisi. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.
"In Ortachala, on the road connecting Rustavi and Tbilisi, where the retaining structure along the bank of the Mtkvari River was damaged in early March of this year and cracks appeared on the carriageway and pavement, the riverbank protection and road works have been completed.
To prevent any danger, vehicular traffic on this section was temporarily restricted and restoration works commenced under an emergency procedure. At this stage, travel on the Rustavi–Tbilisi connecting road is completely safe.
As part of the project, riverbank protection works were carried out along the Mtkvari River, a piled retaining wall was constructed, the safety barriers were restored, and road works were undertaken on the damaged section of the carriageway. An asphalt surface was laid and road markings were applied", - said Kakha Kaladze.
