Rehabilitation of the G-7 distribution canal of the Zemo Alazani irrigation system begins

“Georgian Amelioration” Ltd has announced an electronic tender for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the G-7 Distribution Canal of the Zemo Alazani Irrigation System in Akhmeta Municipality.

The irrigation system has been in operation since 1977. Currently, the existing pipelines and chambers along the G-7 Distribution Canal have deteriorated, resulting in disruptions in water supply and preventing agricultural lands east of the village of Matani from being fully irrigated.

Within the scope of the project, it is planned to replace the deteriorated pipelines, install intake and discharge chambers, and equip the system with modern hydrants, which are specialized water intake devices.

As a result of the rehabilitation, it will be possible to ensure an uninterrupted supply of the required volume of water to the distribution network, creating conditions for the reliable irrigation of up to 380 hectares of agricultural land.

The estimated cost of the tender is GEL 7,731,929. The deadline for submission of proposals is September 25, while the timeframe for the execution of works is 704 calendar days from the date of the procuring entity’s written notice. This period covers only the construction phase and does not include the irrigation season or adverse climatic conditions.
