Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia H.E. Shalva Papuashvili met with Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee.

The meeting focused on the development of the Paralympic movement in Georgia, including legislative amendments under which the status of the Paralympic movement was equated with that of the Olympic movement.

The increase in budgetary funding for the development of Paralympic sport was also highlighted, which is reflected in the international achievements of Georgian Paralympic athletes.

Andrew Parsons thanked Shalva Papuashvili for supporting the Paralympic movement in Georgia and congratulated the Georgian Paralympic team on winning the World Championship title in para judo.

The meeting was attended by Rati Ionatamishvili, President of the Georgian Paralympic Committee/Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, and Shalva Maisuradze, First Vice-President of the Paralympic Committee.
