Georgian Government extends healthcare and socio-economic support for Ukrainian refugees until January 2027

The Government of Georgia passed a decision that Ukrainian nationals and permanent residents of Ukraine residing in Georgia after fleeing hostilities will continue to receive state-funded healthcare services until 1 January 2027.

Besides, the monthly socio-economic support allowance, comprising GEL 300 per family unit alongside a GEL 45 personal monthly stipend, has also been extended through to 1 January 2027.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze signed official decrees enacting the extension.

Under the regulations, continuous residency in Georgia remains valid even if an individual crosses the state border, provided they return within three calendar days.

The Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia will continue to administer the delivery of medical services.

Under state healthcare programmes, eligible Ukrainian citizens receive comprehensive medical coverage spanning preventive, chronic, and emergency care. This includes routine immunizations, maternal and child healthcare such as antenatal care and neonatal screening, mental health support, and diabetes management, complete with prescription medication. The scheme also encompasses specialist treatments such as tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS therapies with targeted medication supply, regular dialysis, and specialized continuous care for patients with rare conditions, alongside emergency medical interventions, maternity services, and urgent vaccinations.

Financial administration of the socio-economic support package will remain overseen by the Social Service Agency.

Under updated compliance rules, the GEL 45 individual allowance will be terminated from the following month if a recipient leaves Georgian territory. Similarly, the GEL 300 household housing allowance will cease if all family members leave the country.
