The Mayor of Tbilisi responded to the statement made about Georgia by Kaja Kallas [High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy] in Luxembourg before the EU Ministerial, noting that anyone who has a correct attitude and is not engaged in political speculation knows very well the importance of Georgia.
“If you bring Kaja Kallas a map, she won’t be able to show you where Georgia is; what are we even talking about? Every normal person who has a correct attitude toward various issues and where there is no room for some political speculation, knows the importance of Georgia.
In this specific case, for example, we know what the main interest is - to somehow bring the representatives of their agent network to the head of the country, so that they can later use the country to advance their own interests and make it do whatever they want, just like what is happening in Ukraine. This is indeed a sad and heartbreaking example.
Everyone knows full well Georgia’s importance, both due to our strategic location and in other key respects; Georgia is a frontrunner.
Look at our economic and democratic development over recent years; look at our freedom of speech and expression. But I mean real freedom of speech, not the version that suits them, where abusing people, using obscenity, hurling insults, and bullying those with differing opinions is tolerated. Under their view, if you think differently, they run you over. That may be democracy to them, but it is not to us. Every individual ought to have true freedom of speech and expression, and that is precisely the kind of country we are building”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
His comments followed statements by Kaja Kallas before the Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, where she said: “Today we will discuss Georgia very briefly, but I will propose that we hold an in-depth discussion on Georgia in January.”
