Starting today, free seasonal flu vaccination has begun nationwide. To get vaccinated, citizens should contact medical institutions.
The state has purchased 200,000 doses of French-made vaccine, recognized by the World Health Organization. Vaccination is recommended for all citizens, but it is particularly important for risk groups - those over 60 year’s old, as well as pregnant women, individuals with chronic illnesses, and children.
Vaccination is available both in Tbilisi and in the regions.
"Flu vaccinations are a very effective means of individual protection, and it is especially important for many people who belong to the so-called risk groups. These could be pregnant women, or they could be the elderly. In this case, vaccination is very important, for example, for individuals with chronic illnesses, because many possible complications can be avoided this way. At the same time, this is important to prevent the spread of the flu in general. Our appeal to everyone is to get vaccinated as actively as possible", - said the Minister of Health, Mikheil Sarjveladze.
