Changes to the law on compulsory technical inspection of vehicles may not be effective from June 1, 2018. There is no information about 1 200 000 car drivers registered in Georgia yet.
Nevertheless, drivers have already objected to the possible launch of new regulations. They say that the new rules will bring their families to the edge of hunger. Self-employed people ask the government to take into account the interests of the people.
Experts say that Georgia is not ready for introduction of compulsory technical inspection of cars, because the Ministry of Economics does not do anything to establish new standards and there is no required technical center in the country that will inspect the automobiles.
According to specialists, if these conditions are to be enforced from January 1, it will result in catastrophic consequences, because nowadays the 35 authorized service centers in the country will need months to check 1 million 200 thousand vehicles.
