The Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a statement regarding an armed attack on Abashidze Street in Vake. The information released by the agency says that search and investigation activities are under way to detect and detain a criminal.
Employees of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Vake-Saburtalo Division of the Tbilisi Police Department have responded to the receipt of an urgent call to the emergency service operative center "112" about the incident in Tbilisi on I. Abashidze Street.
"On arrival at the scene, law enforcers saw wounded L.N., born in 1979, who informed the police that he was wounded by an unidentified person from a firearm. LN was taken to hospital.
"Investigation into the case was initiated under Article 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies intentional severe damage to the health and illegal purchase and keeping of firearms.
"At this time, intensive operative-investigative and investigative actions are under way to detain the offencer," the statement reads.
