Ultimatum to MIA and Boycott to Public Broadcaster - Writers Request Adequate Investigation into Zviad Ratiani"s Case

Ultimatum to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Boycott to the Public Broadcaster - writers give Giorgi Gagaria a one-week deadline for adequate investigation of Zviad Ratiani"s case. They criticize the Ministry and the GPB for the video material that the MIA provided to the broadcaster.

The Public Broadcaster later used the material during television reporting.

According to writer Teona Dolenjashvili, it is interesting how the law enforcement officers and the poet started to fight.

"A huge organization opposes one particular person, he is miserable and lost," said Dolenjashvili.

Writer Paata Shamugia criticizes the GPB for showing the record.

"The Public Broadcaster has acted as the most shameful television in the history of Georgia because they have aired the fabricated materials in order to justify the system and violence, " Paata Shamugia said.

Paata Shamugia says that the incident related to Prime Minister Kvirikashvili in the Parliament was no less interesting for the society, but the broadcaster did not cover it.

"Public Broadcaster is an additional sub-division of the MIA, he has no connection with TV," Paata Shamugia said.

Poet Zviad Ratiani accuses law enforcers of physical violence. MIA General Inspection and Prosecutor"s Office are also investigating the case.

A group of writers filed a complain on the Public Broadcaster at the Board of the Charter of Journalistic Ethics.
