The Chairperson of the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Chairman of the High Council of Justice Nino Gvenetadze made a statement regarding the incident that occurred at the club Basiani.

According to Nino Gvenetadze, the judge made his decision on the case, which is entitled to his authority.

"I, as a chairperson of the Supreme Court and the judge of the case , can say directly that in case of public interest, the use of accountability mechanism in regard to possible misconduct is in their hands and it is their right,"- said Gvenetadze.

Judge Badri Shonia, the first instance judge, released on bail the accused in the incident in the club Basiani. The prosecution appealed the decision in the court of appeal, after which he was detained.
