Offshore section of the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline was opened in Istanbul

The offshore section of the Russian-Turkish natural gas pipeline"Turkish Stream" was opened in Istanbul. Presidents of both countries attended the solemn ceremony.

The Turkish stream replaced the so-called South Stream, which Gazprom had to refuse, since the project was left by Bulgaria.

The first network of "Turkish Stream" envisages gas supply to the Turkish market. The second is for South and South East Europe.

The gas pipeline will be operational by the end of 2019.
