Apartments, cars, thousands of dollars, valuable items - this is a list of the gifts that MPs and their family members get from relatives and absolute strangers.
Transparency International Georgia publishes the survey. The document says that presents are included in the declarations of public servants and the most frequently expensive presents the MPs" spouses receive from close relatives.
According to Eka Gigauri, executive director of Transparency International Georgia, high-ranking officials can receive gifts from family members, but it may be used for legalization of illicit income.
"In reality, it is possible that it will be used to legalize illicit income. Therefore, the relevant authorities think we should study these issues, "Gigauri said.
According to Eka Gigauri, 11 MPs received luxurious gifts, where a large amount of money was transferred from the family members.According to the survey, ten MPs are from the parliamentary majority and one is an opposition MP.
