The third President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met with representatives of various political groups of the European Parliament.
In parallel with the ongoing political process in Georgia, he spoke about about the world"s topical issues.The fight against terrorism, global security issues, future presidential elections in Ukraine and Brexit - European MPs were interested in Mikheil Saakashvili"s position on these issues.
"Mikheil Saakashvili is undoubtedly a big figure in the history of Georgia. He has made many excellent changes in the economy. He always has a very interesting view not only on Georgia but also on Ukraine. I strongly believe that such countries as Georgia and Ukraine should be close to the EU.I"m a strong opponent of Russia"s expansionism that interferes with the internal affairs of these countries, occupying their territories and trying to control their foreign and economic policies. We, in the European Parliament, want to see more transparent, open and democratic Georgia. Continued fight against corruption in the country and protecting the rule of law, "said Charles Tannock, member of the European Parliament.
