The investigation should answer the questions that the Public Defender has - Archil Talakvadze

Despite the report of the Public Defender, the parliamentary majority does not see the necessity of establishing an investigative commission on the case of Temirlan Machalikashvili. The statement was made by Archil Talakvadze.
The Public Defender`s report reads that there is no answer to the question whether disproportionate force was used in the case of Tamirlan Machalikashvili.
Leader of the parliamentary majority believes that the question should be answered by the investigation and not the parliamentary commission.
"The case relating to the anti-terrorist operation is related to security issues, the investigation is underway and we believe that the investigation should answer the questions that the Public Defender may have in this case. As for the Investigation Commission in the Parliament, this issue has been initiated by the opposition and we will make our decision on the issue at the time of voting. My personal position is that these questions should be answered by the investigation and not the commission in parliament, "Archil Talakvadze said.
Public Defender`s report was published today.. In the case of Machalikashvili, the report states that there is still unanswered question of how proportionate was the force used against Teimirlan .
The Public Defender points out that she studied the case and requested access to the case materials. The General Prosecutor"s Office refused the Public Defender. At the same time, members of the family of Tamirlan Machalikashvili are not recognized as victims. As for the murder in Khorava Street, the Ombudsman notes that the investigation was not conducted properly and it has not been possible to eradicate those shortcomings that had place at the initial stage .
