They probably will not take into consideration many things, including the Venice Commission"s conclusion - Mshvenieradze about law on Judges

They probably will not take into consideration many things, including the Venice Commission conclusion - the statement was made by the chairperson of the NGO "Georgian Democratic Initiative". Giorgi Mshvenieradze talked about the draft law prepared by the ruling team, which defines the rules and criteria for selection of judges of the Supreme Court.
Mshvenieradze says that there are many issues in the bill that question the independence of the court.
"We think that there are a number of principle issues that can not be written by any self-respecting lawyer - this is a conflict of interest. They probably will not take into consideration many things, including the conclusion of the Venice Commission, which, most probably, will not be favorable for the government, "said Giorgi Mshvenieradze.
The Parliament of Georgia will receive recommendations of the Venice Commission on the selection criteria for judges today. Despite the fact that the parliamentary majority has already discussed the draft law with two hearings, MPs say they will take note of the remarks and reflect them in the project.
