Zaza Bibilashvili, Mariam Gersamia and Nino Kalandadze leave National Movement

Zaza Bibilashvili, Nino Kalandadze and Mariam Gersamia are leaving the United National Movement. As they said, they are not going to associate themselves with any other political party or take part in the 2020 elections.

“As the public is aware, we have been fully disengaged from all party work for almost 2 years and have focused our efforts entirely on the development of the Chavchavadze Center, whose long term goal is to contribute to the fundamental transformation of Georgian society by supporting civic education, encouraging critical thinking and cultivating a sense of individual responsibility.

Our separation from the party, which was a mutual decision, has raised numerous questions. In order to avoid any future misunderstandings, we believe it is time to make our current status official. Thus, we are formally ending our membership in the political party. We wish every success to the independent, pro-Western opposition and civic activists. At the same time, we want to stress that we do not plan to associate ourselves with any other political party or take part in 2020 elections.

Our goal is to contribute to the formation of a qualitatively new political reality, so that both now and after the change of government there are more rational, critically-minded, economically independent, active citizens in Georgia, who hold Western values as inalienable to them, who will set the rules for the political class and will have a decisive say on their own future”, - reads their statement.
