Police detained L.T, born in 1980, as a result of operative-investigative actions. The woman was arrested in Sighnaghi on charges of attempting to commit the premeditated murder of a child. The offense carries a maximum sentence of 3 to 5 years in prison.

According to the investigation the detained woman on June, 11, gave birth in the village of Kvemo Bodbe and left the newborn in a plastic bag on the territory of the village.

Police arrived at the scene and called an ambulance. The baby was immediately taken to a medical the hospital, his life is no longer in danger.

Investigation is launched by the MIA under the Article 19-112 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (an attempted murder committed by the mother to assassinate the newborn).
