Processes around "Rustavi 2" evaluated in Brussels

Statements regarding Rustavi2 case were made today in Brussels, where the international forum is underway. At the meeting organized by Marshall Fund in parallel with thematic issues relevant to this forum and media freedom was also discussed at the various panels. It was once againg reaffirmed in Brussels that media pluralism is essential for the European public.

The Chairperson of the United States Senate Armed Services Committee, John McCain, focused on the importance of the free access to the media for the public.

"My assessment is that the people should have access to space, especially television, as well as internet so that they are able to make the best decision themselves," - said John McCain.

NATO Secretary General"s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai, said that media freedom is the key principles.

"You know that we do not comment on the court cases. But it should be noted that a free media and a diverse range of media are essential for NATO members, including my country, and for those states that are aspiring to join the alliance. This is a fundamental element of healthy democracy . Many international players made a comment on this particular case. It is not in the NATO`s competence , but the freedom of media in our most important principle, "- said James Appathurai.

Politicians once again condemned Russia`s militarization actions in the occupied territories.
