One of the main religious leaders of the Islamic State has been killed in Mosul. Abdullah al-Badran died during an air strike, carried out by the United States-led coalition.
The name of Al-Badran is associated with a number of orderes issued by the Islamic State relating to torture, murder and sexual violence against civilians.
The Iraqi security forces are now trying to seize the Al-Nuri mosque in the old part of the city, which is an important target for destroying the leaders of the ISIS.
