Before the beginning of the session of Constitutional Commission, the Chairman of Parliament summarized the work of the commission in a 10-minute report. He explained that this version of the constitution iis not adjusted to the interests of any party.
Irakli Kobakhidze noted that according to the new model of the constitution, a stable and democratic parliamentary governance system is established.
"We are moving from the mixed system, proportional-majoritarian system to the proportional system. In fact, the ruling party with a very high likelihood says itself no to a chance of getting of the constitutional majority again. Proportional electoral system has been introduced with its reservations, which ensures minimum stability in our country, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Chairman of the Parliament talked about the rule of electing of the president and the definition of its rights. He also noted that all remarks of the Venice Commission have been taken into consideration.
"The president`s high status remains unchanged. The President is the head of state, the President is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and presents Georgia in Foreign Relations, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.
