New 5 GEL banknotes to take effect on September 1

The National Bank of Georgia will release a new 5 GEL banknotes starting with September 1, 2017, - National Bank President has declared at a press-conference today.

The renewed 5 GEL will be used from September 1 together with old ones, ‘ - he has said.
The banknote depicts Ivane Djavakhishvili`s portrait and on the other side the paintings of Pirosmani.
