Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about the part of the constitutional amendments concerning the defense and security issues at today`s briefing.

Irakli Kobakhidze made a statement after the announcement that the president may not attend the Venice Commission`s plenary sitting, which should present its position on constitutional amendments.

"It was confirmed, including at yesterday`s committee hearing. You remember that we heard absolutely dramatic assessments on defense matters . It was said that defense-related changes hamper Georgia`s path toward NATO and it will lead to destruction of the institutional system. It turned out that the project will lead to qualitative improvement of the regulations related to defense and security. President`s position is extremely weak with respect to the Constitution. Therefore, I am not surprised that he avoids attending the Venice Commission plenary session, "- said Irakli Kobakhidze.
