Dispute started against Georgia - population may have to pay higher rate for electricity

The Russian energy company Inter RAO, which demanded increase of electricity fees from the Georgian authorities, has already appealed to the arbitration court, which means that if the claim and demand are satisfied, the Georgian side will have to revise the tariff and increase it for up to 500 subscribers.

The Russian energy company, which owns the Telasi control package, claims that the company loses tens of millions due to GEL impairment. Therefore, in addition to revising and changing the current tariff, the company demands the international arbitration court to oblige the Georgian government to pay $ 125 million compensation.

The Ministry of Energy does not know the details of the suit yet. That"s why they do not make preliminary predictions.

The decision of the Stockholm Arbitration Court is expected in the legislative body. Political opponents speak of Georgia`s incorrect economic and energy policy.
