The US Ambassador to Georgia has once again responded to the fact of kidnapping of Azeri journalist . Jan Kelly says that he had been in communication with the Georgian authorities regarding the incident.

The US ambassador declares trust in the Georgian government and hopes that the case will be thoroughly investigated.

"We consider that Afgan Mukhtarli case is a serious incident. We have contact with the Government of Georgia and we have clearly fixed our position that this case should be thoroughly investigated. We are convinced that the Georgian government will also has a very serious attitude towards this case. We trust this government and the Prime Minister when he says that a thorough investigation will be conducted. We also hope thatAfgan Mukhtar is normally treated and justice will prevail in this case. We will refrain from further comments until the investigation is over, "- said Jan Kelly.
