Meeting with opposition planned in Strasbourg for tomorrow will not be held - the Venice Commission

The Venice Commission confirms to Courier that the meeting with the opposition in Strasbourg has been canceled. According to them the Georgian side has demanded to postpone the meeting. Thomas Markert, a Secretary of the Venice Commission claims that the reason of postponement is continuation of negotiations in Tbilisi.

"The meeting has been postponed because the Georgian side continues negotiations in Tbilisi. We are not the initiators of the meeting. As for the presence of Gianni Buquicchio, it has not been discussed. Remains unknown, then the meeting will be held. It depends on the negotiations in Tbilisi,"- said Thomas Markert.

Meanwhile , the meeting on constitutional amendments has failed in Tbilisi as well. Political parties should meet with the president, but the ruling team refused to attend the meeting.
