The fire broke out at night in Rustavi 2, damaging part of studio decorations and communications and causing short-term interruptions . The smell of smoke remains inside the building.

The fire erupted in the territory between main studios.

"One part of the equipment is damaged, one part of the decorations which were stored here and the specialized lighting for organizing various events, which was also here are damaged as well," said Nodar Meladze, the head of the News Department of the Rustavi 2 Broadcasting Company.

According to him, fire could reach the main fiber-optic cable that provides broadcasting.

Investigation into the case has been launched under the second part of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies damage and destruction of the item by setting fire.
