The next round of dialogue not be possible with the opposition - answer of parliamentary majority

The parliamentary majority has released a statement after the start of the second round of consultations on constitutional amendments, which states that they have received 4 ultimatums from opposition and, therefore, it is not possible to start the next round of dialogue.

The ruling team demanded the opposition parties to submit proposals on constitutional amendments.

Rustavi 2 offers the statement of the parliamentary majority.

"As you know, the parliamentary majority offered opposition parties to renew the dialogue on the constitutional reform. On August 18 a meeting was held between the opposition and the political parties in the parliamentary majority. In accordance with the agreement reached at the meeting, opposition political parties were requested to submit an exhaustive list of issues without the agreement on which the relevant party would not support the constitutional amendments and the list of Constitutional amendments which would have the support of that party.

"We had hoped that the opposition parties would be constructively get engaged in the process of dialogue and rationally define the issue or issues that they would support in constitutional amendments, but instead, they gave 4 ultimatums in writing, and
they did not express their readiness to support constitutional amendments even if these conditions are met and presented only 4 ultimatums as a prerequisite for launching a dialogue.

"Obviously, this approach of the opposition is counterproductive and makes us think that the oppositional parties`s goal is absence of constructive dialogue and consensus."- is said in the statement.
