The government has selected Otar Sichinava and Lali Papiashvili from the 4 candidates nominated for the European Court. Lali Papiashvili is the current judge of the Constitutional Court and Otar Sichinava is the current judge of the Court of Appeals.

In order to select two candidates for the Strasbourg Court, the government sent a list of 4 people, including the lawyers Lali Papiashvili, Tamar Alania, Otar Sichinava and Ioseb Bachiashvili, several days ago.

Judges, Lali Papiashvili and Tamar Alania, had the highest score during the qualifying stage.

The Strasbourg Court has rejected two of the 3 candidates nominated from Georgia in the previous case. This will be the third attempt of the government to present candidates for judge of the European Court.

The government will present these candidates to the European Court tomorrow, on 31 August.v
