The UN Secretary General welcomes the peaceful development of events in Armenia and calls on the sides for dialogue, as well as the rule of law and human rights.

Sargsyan`s decision to resign is also welcomed in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. According to the co-rapporteurs of the Armenian monitoring group, the goal of the former prime minister was to defuse tensions in the country.

Co-rapporteurs expressed hope that the developments will become the basis for a constructive dialogue for opposing political forces. The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly also observes the events. The organization is ready to assist Armenia on the path of democracy.
