Ministry of Finance responds to current developments in "Iberia"

The Ministry of Finance responds to the current developments in "Iberia". OGT Ltd, a cigarette producer company belonging to Omega Group currently has a tax debt of 51 million 717 thousand GEL, the main part of which is the unpaid excise.

As the Ministry explains, this is the only company that has more than 50 million debt to the budget.

According to the agency, due to non-payment, now the compulsory measures - collection and sequestration will be applied towards the company.

TV company Iberia accuses the government of pressure and speaks about the restriction of free media. The founders of the Iberia, MPs of the Supreme Council of Adjara and the Parliament ,Zaza Okruashvili and Nato Chkheidze made a special statement.

The channel management claims that the authorities stopped the "Omega Group" enterprises as the TV channel"s financing sources, and thus put pressure on free media.
