The volcano Etna again erupted on the island of Sicily. Before the volcano was activated, earthquakes hit the province of Catania.

Etna is still spreading volcanic ash and hot lava. The city of Catania has been partially closed for flights.

Etna is the highest volcano in Europe. In 2013, UNESCO listed it as a World Heritage Site.
