The Chairman of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia should be elected by IDPs – this is a new initiative of "European Georgia" and the Council of Abkhazians. According to the idea, elections should be held in proportionate manner every four years.

Opposition estimates that their project will encourage IDPs to participate in political processes. The legislative initiative will be put forward by the opposition party and the Abkhaz assembly in the near future.

The representative body will be elected like the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
