According to the Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Support Act of the US House of Representatives reaffirms the importance of Georgia-US strategic partnership.
Prior to the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister spoke about the components outlined in the supporting act.
“Successful voting and passing of Georgia Support Act by the US House of Representatives unanimously reaffirm the high-level partnership with our strategic partner. I would like to point out some major points highlighted in the act. The first of all this is Georgia’s independence and territorial integrity. Act outlines the need to strengthen the security context of Georgia, the protection of human rights in the occupied territories. We appreciate the proposal on the possibility to impose appropriate sanctions. Also, the economic component of the document, which stresses on the intensification of work in the direction of the Free Trade regime, is very important”, - said Gakharia.
The US House of Representatives unanimously approved a bipartisan Georgia Support Act on October 22. The document will be submitted to the Senate and then to the US President for signing after which it will be enacted.
