The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia responded to the information spread by Archbishop Iacob and noted that he does not believe in the plan of Patriarch dismissal. Archil Talakvadze believes that this information is absolutely groundless.

"If someone does not like one particular clergyman, he can always go to another clergyman. This is a free country, we have a cultural community and I don"t think this will have any major impact on the life of our country. Do you believe that the Government wanted to overthrow the Patriarch? I ask you because I do not even believe that the Government wanted to make such step. And in general, the dismissal of the patriarch as a term is absolutely incomprehensible to me. There can be no reason for this", - said Talakvadze.

A few days ago, the Bishop of Bodbe charged the current and former high-ranking officials of the Georgian Dream. According to him, the Government officials tried to negotiate with him on the Patriarch’s dismissal. He named the participants of the meeting – then-Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, current Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, and former head of the State Security Service and current Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri.
