Nika Melia sentenced to imprisonment

The Tbilisi City Court has sentenced UNM head, Nika Melia, to imprisonment.

The verdict was announced by the judge Nino Chakhnasvili. The court has approved the Prosecution’s motion.

“The bail as a measure of restraint should be replaced by a measure of stricter restraint - detention. The term of detention of Nikanor Melia should be counted from the moment of his actual detention”, - said the judge.

The Prosecution demanded that the Chairman of the UNM be sentenced to imprisonment, while the defendant wanted the measure of restraint to be revoked.

The lawyers of Nika Melia left the courtroom before the judge ended the announcing of the verdict.
