In June 2021 the Consumer Price Index increased by 0.7% compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 9.9%. With regard to the annual core inflation, the prices increased by 5.9%, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 5.8%.
The monthly inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: the prices for the group posted a 2.7% increase, which contributed 0.36 percentage points to the monthly inflation rate. The prices were higher for the following subgroups: electricity, gas and other fuels (4.7%), maintenance and repair of the dwelling (2.2%) and actual rentals for housing (1.7%);
Recreation and culture: the prices for the group increased by 1.6%, which contributed 0.06% to the overall monthly inflation rate. Within the group, the prices increased for audio visual, photographic and information processing equipment (3.3%), also for newspapers, books and stationery (2.0%);
Restaurants and hotels: the prices for the group posted a 1.0% increase, with the relevant contribution of 0.06% to the monthly inflation rate. Within the group, the prices were higher for both accommodation services (4.6%) and catering services (0.7%);
Transport: the prices increased by 0.4%, contributing 0.06% to the monthly inflation. Within the group, the prices increased for operation of personal transport equipment (0.8%) and transport services (0.2%). In the same period, the prices decreased for purchase of vehicles (-2.7%);
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices for the group increased by 0.2%, contributing 0.06 percentage points to the overall monthly index change. The prices were higher for the following subgroups: vegetables (8.5%), oils and fats (3.4%), fish (2.0%), bread and cereals (0.6%). At the same time, the prices were lower for fruit and grapes (-4.4%), as well as for milk, cheese and eggs (-3.0%).
The annual inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: the prices in the group increased by 8.8%, contributing 2.78% to the overall annual inflation rate. Within the group the prices increased for the following subgroups: oils and fats (47.1%), vegetables (16.6%), sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (13.7%), fish (11.1%), milk, cheese and eggs (10.6%), mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices (7.3%), coffee, tea and cocoa (7.2%), bread and cereals (5.5%), meat (5.3%).
Along with this, the prices decreased for fruit and grapes (-19.5%);
Transport: the prices increased by 22.0%, contributing 2.54% to the annual inflation rate. Within the group the prices increased for operation of personal transport equipment (33.4%), purchase of vehicles (1.8%) and transport services (1.6%);
Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: the prices for the group posted a 10.5 percent increase, which contributed 1.59% to the annual inflation rate. The prices were higher for the following subgroups: electricity, gas and other fuels (14.0%), maintenance and repair of the dwelling (7.3%) and water supply and miscellaneous services relating to the dwelling (4.5%). In the same period, prices were lower for actual rentals for housing (-6.5%).
