Otar Shamugia has been appointed Minister of Environment and Agriculture. Until now, he was Levan Davitashvili’s deputy.
According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, Shamugia is an IDP from Sokhumi, he was born in Sokhumi, grew up in Sokhumi, graduated from school in Sokhumi.
“Then lived as an IDP in Zugdidi, Tbilisi and reached the post of a Minister with his conscientious and honest work. Otar has worked in this Ministry for 16 years. He knows in detail what agriculture, environment protection needs and I believe he will be a successful Minister”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
“It is a great honor for me and at the same time a responsibility to serve my country with a very strong team and to contribute to the development of both the environment and agriculture”, - added Otar Shamugia.
Otar Shamugia, 55, held the Deputy Environmental Protection and Agriculture Minister’s post since December 2020. Earlier in 2019-2020, he served as Deputy Director in the Rural Development Agency.
