Deliberate lies and misinformation parallel the Vake Park tragedy. This is how the Mayor of Tbilisi evaluates the information that spread on social network about the process of chemical treatment of water in a swimming pool.

“The video footage shot in the Sports Center Imedi, which was published by one of the users of the social network last week, was followed by an appropriate response from our side, distribution of statements, etc.

According to the citizen, the video shows the process of chemical treatment of water in a swimming pool full of children (namely, the addition of chlorine), which seems as if children and coaches became intoxicated a few days ago. As soon as the information was released, the pool water was tested immediately, which showed that the chlorine and pH values were within normal limits.

Moreover, according to the inquiry carried out by the administration of the sports center, during these days, none of the children addressed medical institutions, which should have happened in case of intoxication. Despite this, we have conducted two additional complex studies, in addition to having daily water sampling tests and the results of the study.

Everything is absolutely normal. The problem is some of the employees working there have spread deliberate lies and tried to mislead people. This will be followed by an appropriate response from our side”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
