Up to 1,500 people reside in the area, among whom only 20% are students - MIA explains why law enforcement officers were in Bagebi dormitory

The Ministry of Internal Affairs explains why law enforcement officers were in Bagebi dormitory.

“The MIA, as the agency responsible for maintaining the rule of law, implements measures focused on crime prevention on the regular basis.

The role of a law enforcement officer is utterly important in the effective implementation of police activities together with various departments of the agency- the competence of which includes information collection, systematization and initial processing along with a number of important directions;

Law enforcement officers, within the framework of the assigned mandate, are in constant communication with citizens living in their operational area and carry out information collection, systematization and initial processing.

In order to carry out the mentioned duties and responsibilities, on March 14, 15, 16 of the current year, law enforcement officers visited the dormitory residential buildings in Bagebi and conduced scheduled activities.

There are five residential buildings in the territory of the student city, where representatives of different regions, professions and ages reside.

In total, up to 1,500 people reside in the area, among whom only 20% are students.

We would like to note that during the visit and communication with the law enforcement officers, the local population did not demonstrate any form of protest.

The MIA calls on all individuals, youth movements, non-governmental organizations and political parties to refrain from disseminating unverified information, which is deliberately discrediting the police due to various interests”, - reads the statement.
